"Feed Without Wasting Food (Alimentar sem Desperdiçar)" is a video that DECO has launched on 7 June, in both Portuguese and English, to alert and empower consumers to make more responsible, conscious decisions regarding food.

According to a statement sent out by DECO, in Europe, every year around 89 million tonnes of food is thrown away. In Portugal, it is estimated that each resident wastes around 134 kg of food every year. Meanwhile, 1/6 of the world's population is starving to death.

"Our decisions, both economic and environmental, have consumed scarce resources. We are not just talking about food, but also water and energy, land, labour and raw materials needed for food production and also our money," it reads.

The micro-project "Feed without wasting", is funded by ACCIONAD-ODS, INTERREG V Spain Portugal (POCTEP), with the support of local actions to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (such as SDG nº 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities, 12 - Sustainable Consumption and Production and 13 - Action against Global Climate Change) and has already reached more than 100 consumers in the Algarve region.

DECO will continue to work on the ground and contribute to a circular economy, reducing the environmental, financial and social impacts of food waste.
