“We have been working on it for a few months, the intention is that [the opening] will be between November and December, although it is still not possible to advance an exact day” said the vice president for the Iberian Peninsula Ana Alcobia, in statements to Lusa.

Ana Alcobia explains that opening the space during the low tourist season allows Time Out to fulfil the objective of keeping the project focused on the local public, giving them the opportunity to get to know “a small sample of what the city of Porto has to offer”.

The project by architect Eduardo Souto Moura, Pritzker architecture prizewinner in 2011, will occupy an area of around two thousand square meters, with a total of 14 restaurants, two bars, including a tower with space for events and an outdoor lounge overlooking the city and the Clérigos Tower.

The works involve the recovery of the existing building, previously used as a support area for the station, as well as the outer space.

Built next to the main building, the 21-metre tower, in iron and glass, “inspired by the old water reservoirs that existed next to the train lines” is, points out Ana Alcobia, “a central and fundamental piece” of the project.
