The orange warning for Faro and the south coast of Madeira will be in effect until 23:00 today, then changing to yellow until 23:00 on Saturday.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Évora, Setúbal, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre until 23:00 today due to the persistence of high maximum temperature.

Also, the north coast and mountainous regions of the island of Madeira and Porto Santo are under yellow warning until 23:00 on Saturday.

Over the weekend in mainland Portugal, maximum temperatures are expected to oscillate between 22 degrees Celsius (in Viana do Castelo and Guarda) and 33 in Faro.
