According to a report by idealista, the Housing and Urban Rehabilitation Institute (IHRU) has decided to once again freeze the rents on its assets in 2024, given the "particularly difficult and demanding" context that families face.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the IHRU states that "it has decided not to proceed, for the second consecutive year, with updating the rents of the current lease contracts for its assets".

The IHRU justifies this decision with the "current economic context, related to the instability from a macroeconomic point of view generated by the international scenario, marked by conflicts with unpredictable consequences".

This measure will cover the approximately 14,000 IHRU tenants who, with this initiative, intended to "support the most vulnerable families, safeguarding their income and helping to maintain their right to secure housing, in a particularly difficult and demanding context".
