According to a statement issued by the union, "STRUN has legalised a new strike along the same lines as the previous one, from midnight on 12/08/2024 [Monday] to 02:00 on 13/08/2024 [Tuesday]".

On July 22, STCP workers went on strike for 26 hours from midnight, which, according to STRUN coordinator José Manuel Silva, had a turnout of around 75%, a figure not confirmed by the transport company's management.

According to the STRUN statement, the minimum services granted for next week's strike "are significantly less than usual", with the union reminding that workers only have to comply "if there are not enough non-participating workers to comply with the CES [Economic and Social Council] requirements".

The minimum services defined by the Arbitration Court, also published by the union, involve, during the daytime, six vehicles on line 205, four vehicles on lines 200 and 204 and three vehicles on lines 201, 207, 208 and 305.

For the night time period, the minimum services include three vehicles on lines 205, 600 and 903, and two vehicles on lines 200, 204, 305, 502, 602, 700, 701, 702, 801 and 901/906.

During the early morning hours, the lines of the network are expected to operate normally (1M, 2M, 3M, 4M, 5M, 7M, 8M, 9M, 10M, 11M, 12M, 13M).

The first strike was called due to the alleged lack of response from management to a proposal for a salary review of no less than 8%, considering the workers to be insufficient for the salary update made by STCP management – 2% in January and 4.7% in April.
