The city of Porto is preparing to host the second edition of Wine & Travel Week, which features tourism, wine and gastronomy, bringing together professionals from all over the world, in a delegation of more than 100 specialists of wine tourism, with a network of more than 100 operators, tourism regions and organisations, including members from the capitals of the world’s greatest vineyards, the Great Wine Capitals (GWC), South Africa, Spain, France, India, England, Israel, Japan, Nigeria and Portugal will be some of the countries represented at the event.
The reception for participants will take place on February 18, at World of Wine. The B2B professional meetings will be held at the Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis, from February 19 to February 20.
According to a report by Publituris, the Palacete Silva Monteiro, headquarters of the Comissão dos Vinhos Verdes, will be hosting on February 19, a lunch by chef Renato Cunha, from the Ferrugem restaurant, who in recent times, revived the tradition of popular cuisine in iron pots. In the evening, at Casa da Música, the GWC “Best of Wine Tourism” gala, in which the city of Porto is the only Portuguese representative, will distinguish the winners in the different categories of these international wine tourism awards.
On February 20, the Museu Soares dos Reis will be hosting a lunch by chef Rui Paula, with two Michelin stars at the Casa de Chá – Paço da Boa Nova restaurant.
In this edition, the WTW will feature a guest region for the first time: Castile and León (Spain), which will present the world premiere of the show “Merina: o ouro espanhol. Oteiza.”, on February 20, at the Coliseu do Porto.
From February 21 to February 23, the international delegation of buyers will be participating in a series of visits to the different Portuguese touristic regions, including the archipelagos, to better differentiate projects of wine tourism.
