In a hearing at the Economy, Public Works and Housing committee, asked about the concession of the 25 de Abril and Vasco da Gama bridges, in Lisbon, currently attributed to the company Lusoponte, the minister said that the end of the concession is in 2030 and teams from the ministry are already working on the new concession contract and announced that this will encompass the new bridge to be built in Lisbon (Chelas-Barreiro).

“We already have teams working on a new concession that will include the third crossing of the Tagus”, stated the minister.

In a public-private partnership, Lusoponte (controlled by the companies Mota-Engil and Vinci) is the concessionaire of the two crossings over the Tagus River in Lisbon, the Vasco da Gama bridge and the 25 de Abril bridge, until March 2030.

In May, the Government approved the construction of the new airport in the Lisbon region at Campo de Tiro de Alcochete, with a view to fully replacing Humberto Delgado Airport.

It also decided to mandate Infraestruturas de Portugal to complete studies for the construction of the Third Tagus Crossing and the Lisbon-Madrid high-speed rail link.
