On the mainland, around 50 municipalities in the districts of Faro, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Viseu, Portalegre, Guarda, Vila Real and Bragança are at maximum fire risk.

The highest maximum temperature forecast for today will be reached in Castelo Branco and Évora at 38 degrees Celsius, followed by Portalegre and Beja with 36 and Santarém, Braga, Vila Real and Bragança with 34.

The IPMA also placed several municipalities in all districts of mainland Portugal at very high and high fire risk.

According to IPMA calculations, the fire danger will remain high in some districts until at least Monday.

This risk, determined by IPMA, has five levels, ranging from low to high, and the calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and rainfall over the last 24 hours.

Madeira Island, where a rural fire has been burning for over a week, also has a very high, high and moderate risk of rural fires in some regions today, according to IPMA, which has extended the yellow heat warning to the north and south coasts and the mountainous regions and Porto Santo until 6:00 pm today.
