The change in the tables that include plants, substances and preparations whose production, trafficking and consumption are subject to control measures and application of sanctions, received a positive opinion from the National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED) and the Institute for Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies (ICAD).

During the discussion, Ana Povo, Secretary of State for Health, explained that “it is up to the Portuguese State to ensure that control measures are taken on substances” and that this is a way of ensuring greater safety in the area of public health and reducing the risk of provision of substances for drug production.
