Lagos, Aljezur, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira and Alcoutim, are all on the highest level of alert, while seven other areas, located in the Algarve and the southern Alentejo, have been issued with the second highest level of readiness by the Portuguese Met Office.
The advisory is issued based on the weather conditions experienced in the preceding 24 hours, such as temperature readings, humidity, wind speeds and the amount of rainfall.
The reason I cannot proceed with my construction

I urge all car drivers put a smoking ban on themselves throughout the hot summer months... I am a heavy smoker but I made it a priority not to smoke in the car. If I need a cigarette I stop the car in the nearest supermarket car park. I witnessed so many people throwing cigs out of car windows along the 125 many dry grass patches. It's easy done as people not taking into account winds from a rear car speeding over your discarded cig will undoubtedly be flipped into the air possibly onto the grass areas. Please all driver think about this. We don't want a repeat of last year's fires in Monchique or anywhere else in the country.
