According to André Gomes, president of Turismo do Algarve, with these participations “we want to continue, in 2024, our desire to achieve, for the region, several objectives, towards which we have been working in recent years”.

In this case, he refers to the diversification of its tourist source markets; strengthening and consolidating the Algarve as an appealing destination throughout the year and capable of satisfying different travel motivations; and the creation of opportunities to establish relevant and strategic partnerships for the development of tourism in the region.

The president of ATA also argues that “promoting the Algarve at tourism fairs and direct contact with potential customers and partners continues to be an excellent way of showing interest in our destination, an interest that we hope will continue to bear fruit in the future".

From the 10th to the 14th, Turismo do Algarve will be present at Vakantiebeurs, a tourism fair held annually in Utrecht, which brings together enthusiasts, sector professionals and exhibitors from all over the world. As a relevant platform for presenting destinations, trends and diverse travel experiences, the Algarve will have the opportunity to present the multiplicity of its tourist offer, asserting itself as a destination capable of responding to the motivations of all types of tourists.

From January 13th to 21st, ATA will participate in one of the largest tourism and leisure fairs in the world aimed at the end consumer. Held in Stuttgart, the CMT will have a first weekend exclusively dedicated to cycling and walking products – “Fahrrad & Wanderreisen” -, a segment where the Algarve dominates.

From the 18th to the 21st of January, Turismo do Algarve will participate in another edition of the MATKA Nordic Travel Fair. This is an annual fair that stands out as a showcase for the travel and tourism sector in the Nordic region. This year's edition will pay special attention to sustainable tourism, seeking to minimize the negative impacts of global travel, while celebrating the joy of traveling and exploring the world. As sustainability is one of the main guiding pillars of tourism in the Algarve, the region will have the opportunity to highlight various ways of visiting and getting to know the destination in a sustainable way, through authentic, conscious and responsible tourism.

Also noteworthy is the participation in the workshop The Meetings Space North America, from the 25th to the 28th. This is a workshop dedicated to professionals in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) segment, which will bring together North American buyers with international specialty suppliers. During the event, which will take place in Abu Dhabi, meetings will take place with around 20 potential clients and various networking activities will take place.

It should be noted that the Algarve is nominated for “Best Summer Destination” in this year's edition of the Irish Travel Industry Awards, an initiative promoted by the Irish Association of Travel Agents.

Finally, between the 26th and 28th of January, ATA will be present at the Holiday World Show, a prominent event in the world of travel and tourism, taking place in Ireland. Bringing together a wide range of exhibitors, this fair provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore and plan their next adventures. In the previous edition, the Holiday World Show was visited by more than 30 thousand people.
