The landscapes of the island of Madeira will serve as the backdrop for some of the scenes of the next film of the famous 'Star Wars' saga.
According to RTP Madeira, filming will take place on the south and north coasts of the island and will run until the end of the month.
The material needed for the recordings has already arrived in Madeira, as well as, according to the regional channel, "a large team".
It is therefore expected that, in the coming days, some locations on the island, as well as communication routes, will be closed to the public for the recordings.
Madeira's Regional Directorate of Roads had already released a notice of the closure of Regional Road 214, from Quinta do Lorde to the Baía de Abra roundabout, between the 11th and 14th of this month, motivated "by the filming of a series with international notoriety and with strategic interest for the Region".
This is not the first international production recorded in Portugal. Recently, the first season of 'House of the Dragon' was recorded in the village of Monsanto, the last film of the saga 'Fast and Furious' has some scenes recorded in Viseu, Vila Real, Lisbon and Almada and 'Heart of Stone' was recorded in Lisbon, as well as the last season of 'A Casa de Papel'.
This is so cool, the residents will get to meet all the celebrities.
