The figures were released by Minister Ana Mendes Godinho, during the presentation of the “Annual Report on the Evolution of Collective Bargaining in 2022”, by the Center for Labor Relations (CRL) and reported by ECO.
“These figures show the dimension of the number of foreign workers who are entering the Portuguese labour market, but it also means that we really have to have this capacity to have foreign workers working in Portugal, precisely to respond to the great challenges of attracting and retaining talent in organisations”, considered the Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security.
Already in global terms, "we have more than 180,000 workers declared to Social Security from January to April, compared to the same period". “If we compare it with the number of workers declared to Social Security in 2015, we have over a million workers declared in the period”, she said during her speech.
With regard to the average salary declared to Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho also mentioned that, during the first four months of 2023, there was an increase of around 8%.
It's just a crying shame that the government does so little to support us. Unless you speak Portuguese, you have zero help.

The impression one gets is the numbers are not right, there are many migrants not registered or declared.
