In this expansion, four new stations are planned and the deadline for the execution of the work, which is defined in the contract, is the end of 2026, which "makes it materially impossible within the known deadlines", said the president of the National Commission for Monitoring the PRR (CNA-PRR).

This is one of the investments identified as being in a "critical" state in the report, where it is noted that "this is an investment about which, at this date, there are well-founded doubts about its possibility of completion (meaning, trains operating with passengers) by 31 /12/2026".

Pedro Dominguinhos highlights that the European Commission has already said that "the total or partial replacement of some investments is possible, which the Commission has to approve so that they can be replaced by other investments", pointing out that this may have to be done in this case.

In the CNA-PRR report, it is also pointed out that "despite this being an investment that is anchored in a loan and not a grant, the fact that of the almost impossibility of meeting the target is already clear, it is essential that, whether the Mission Structure Recover Portugal, or the Government, consider the decision to be taken".

The work covers a length of around four kilometers and four new stations: Campolide/Amoreiras, Campo de Ourique, Infante Santo, and Alcântara.

Alcântara station will connect to the future Sustainable Intermodal Line, promoting connection to the municipality of Oeiras (LIOS Oeste).
